florida fundraising

We leave on Wednesday, November 16th for the NCCAA's in Florida. I've been reminded this last week that fundraising on short notice is not fun.

The boys hosted a concert/open mic night in the Lambda Lounge Tuesday night featuring, both defenders for the men's squad, Karlin on his Ukulele and Ian Mighty on vocals. The crowd was pretty responsive to the hawaiian/pseudo-jamaican vibe. To cap off the night Sal performed his juggling routine - you should have seen Sal play, he moves so gracefully and precisely that it looks as if he is dancing while he jukes and dribbles (ever watch Robin Williams Live on Broadway?).

The girls have a slightly different approach to fundraising: "Mom and Dad PLEASE SEND MONEY." The truth is the girls sold enough tshirts the very first day to send almost 2 players. Later we did recycle runs, sold bracelets and concessions at varoius events, ravaged our homes for garage sale items, and hit up the local businesses for some cold hard cash - especially banks (okay the last one isn't true, but we are desperate =).

BOTH TEAMS ARE HALF WAY THERE!!
Thank you to those who have generously donated to the HIU Soccer Programs and to those who have been praying for our success. We are truly blessed to have support from such caring and kind-hearted people.
