i told my roomies that i needed to get shot with my airsoft gun before i was to use it. kind of like my paps at the police academy getting sprayed with mace before he was allowed to carry it and potentially use it on criminals. the other day i was walking back to my desk in my dorm room and my roommate pulled my gun on me and i shrieked, turned around and pleaded - but before i could say "don't shoot" Jessica pull the trigger and shot me in the arse. i yelled a little in pain and started rubbing my bum on the ground laughing. it only took me about 5 minutes to muster up the inspiration for retalitation - sp, yes, jessica got one to the hind-quarters as well. we got in a brawl and i set the gun down away from her reach. when i went to grab it i accidentally pulled the trigger - yes i forgot it was loaded and cocked - and I shot myself in the finger. ha. it hurt bad. real bad. and immediately a blood-blister formed. i don't think i should ever own a real gun. probably never will... not a big fan. i have, though, become a pretty good shot =).
YOGURT LAND. a new self-serve soft serve =) joint opened up across the street on state college blvd in the same set of strips as PJ's... and they've got IRISH MINT!! yEAh!!! there's tons of flavors and you just grab a cup and fill up with yogurt ice cream and a, actually limited, selection of toppings... then you plop it on the scale and pay 30 cents for every ounce. i sometimes put m&m's in my cup, which is not the smartest idea because they make my cup go from 5 ounces to 10... funny thing is accidentally start eating my m&m's in line and then realize i probably have eaten a couple ounces before i even pay - oops =). one time the guy - and there's usually only one working at a time - told me he'd be a couple minutes. so i left my cup on the scale and started picking at the m&m's watching the ounces go down a few decimals each time - lovin' it. i think the only thing i really don't like about the place is its name. it has become a ritual to hit up Yogurt Land after our late thursday night indoor sessions for soccer. its a sweet little hole in the wall between starbucks and chipotle. let's just say the strip is becoming an addiction.taryne enjoys it too! =)
Softball. we had a doubleheader against Cal Baptist on tuesday night. It's our second meeting with a GSAC competitor for the season. CBU is ranked #1 in the NAIA (not the NCCAA) - pretty big deal. we held them 2-0 until the 6th inning in the first game (there's only 7 innings). the second game was not as successful- we were mercied in the 6th. Overall it was a good showing, we scared them in the first and frustrated the heck out of their batters annnnnd their coach... but they were bat-busters in the 2nd. i guess there was some bad history between our coach and cbu's head coach... kind of made the game interesting. I blew my goal of never striking out in GSAC - kind of a stupid goal now that i think of it... but I went down looking on one at-bat... the worst... it just wasn't my pitch, but the ump decided it was good enough for him.
LOLLIPOP sales have been going well. We've made back all the money I spent to purchase them AND SOME annnnnnnd we have over half of them left - all profit from here on out. Serena has been the one to sell most of the 'pops so I've decided that she will get nearly all the profit. We are also investing in hats - trucker hats. the big debate is whether we go with the new athletic logo or a heraldic rampant lion. the athletic logo is familiar, traditional... but the rampant lion is definitely futbol and definitely trendy. its hard to appease both. i prefer the rampant lion - but the hats are going to be mesh with a screen print, the cheap trucker hat look, so it seems to me that the HIU athletic logo would be more appropriate. if we were to invest in cloth or corduroy hats with embriodery or a rugged patches, then the rampant lion would be a must =).

Walk The Line. I liked it as much as Ray... and even a little bit more. Truth is I've never really liked Johnny Cash or appreciated his music until the movie. It's real too, the director wasn't interested in emphasizing only the good parts of his life, even the bad parts were explored and sometimes featured. Joaquin Phoenix, as John Cash, and Reese Witherspoon, as June Carter, were amazing - she snagged best actress at the oscars with her performance. After watching the movie 2 or 3 times in the last 2 or 3 days with the roomies, I endured it even once again - but this time with the Director's commentary. Jeff, from the men's volleyball team, came in and was like, "are you kidding me, are you really watching with the commentary?" I just smiled and continued to multi-task - I was finishing my dialogue for a skit in dramatic writing. Minutes later he found himself sitting, glued to the tube and watching the commentary with me. It really is fascinating stuff.
Other movies i've seen recently are RENT, not too impressed... reminded me of around the time when MTV was just getting pop in the earlyl 90's... bad taste in clothes, bad taste in music, and the infant stages of anarchy and tolerance movements - sometimes i feel like people got envolved because it was "cool" and not really because it was good. Also: Elizabethtown - love story, paradox feel good movie. it had an absolutely horrible beginning, kind of confusing/ dark and a boring plot set-up... but it was able to semi-redeem itself in the mid and end - i would have written the ending a tad differently. probably would never watch either again.
