Canada, eh?

Gaels

Thursday 10pm I read the roster. 2 games: Cleveland, Ohio and London, Canada… 18+ hours of riding in a full 15-pasenger van. I searched all over my semi-unpacked room for a passport. Nada. Called Mom from Stiner’s phone to find out it was hanging out with other important documents in “nicole’s drawer” at home in the kitchen. Great. We brainstormed – overnight the passport to Ohio maybe? Nope. I was to get the fax number to the Marriot in Cleveland and Mom was to fax a copy of my birth certificate instead.

Friday 5:30am I ate oatmeal at red lights, sang to I’ll Be Missing You by Puff Daddy for the up-millionth time on the radio, and attempted to follow directions I scribbled on the back of a Panera Bread receipt while using their free WIFI. The meeting spot was Trinity Christian College, about an hour southish of here.

I picked up the fax and we lost to the Cleveland Internationals 3-1. The next morning we headed for the border and hit unexpected traffic due to road construction near Port Huron. An hour before kick-off we parked and dressed, and we beat the London Gryphons 4-1. I made it to Canada and back with a copy of my birth certificate.

Coach's son graduated Sunday so we drove straight home after the game. I walked into my house at 4:30am to scared my roommates, their boyfriends and some friends who were on the back patio telling scary tales. Our front door creeks -- it was a nice effect.

The Gaels are 2-2.

My Randomness...

On my lunch break yesterday I noticed that a Cicada became one with the Rhode Island license plate on my roommates Ford Escort I am borrowing while she’s in Brazil. If you did a cross section of the plate, I bet the Cicada lies smack dab in the middle. It’s still there too – I just went and looked right now.

I get Tuesdays off. It’s nice. I still have Gaels practice at night… but I get to sleep in and do anything but welcome people to Jamba, make smoothies, wash blenders, wear an apron and visor, calibrate the juice concentrates in the easy bar, fill the dip and boosts stations – and I’m done now because I realize this means nothing to you.

So I have almost no clean clothes and that’s because our dryer is dead. Puts a little damper on washing multiple loads. The dryer is supposedly being replaced by the landlord – but uhhh, who knows when that will happen. My soccer shirts hang from doorframes and my delicates drape the staircase rails and dining room chairs. Pants take fooorrrreeevvveeerrr.

I joined a coed indoor league on Monday nights at Soccer City in Palatine. My team is called THEM, consisting of mostly TIU alumni. We won our opener last night 6-3 and I scored 2 – helps with the confidence factor since I’m not getting the job done outdoors with the Gaels. Next week my temp Manager scheduled a Monday night all-store meeting – figures.

I finished The Office season 2 during the Gaels road-trip. I cannot believe that they left me with Jim kissing Pam – errrr. I heard Season 3 is out in the Fall and now I know how I will be spending my Thanksgiving break!
