stiner on her skimboard

Lake Hope has returned due to the heavy rain that we endured yesterday and last night - it's really just a huge puddle of water collecting and overflowing between the 'L' of the Omega dorms and Omega parking lot.
Late last night after the basketball games my roomies and I wanted to go and dive in it, but it was being inspected for being hazardous because of some electrical box? We managed, despite the dissapointment, and practiced self control.
Today softball practice was canceled because our field is also flooded, so I used the early afternoon to catch up on some studies - this week is midterms for the most part. I was just minding my own business sitting at my desk reading Humble Apologetics when I heard loud voices outside, and one that sounded similar to Leanna - pitcher on the softball team - a mischevious one... but in a good way.
I opened my slider and stepped out on the balcony to see Leanna with a boogie board and her roomates on their ground level balcony holding a camera.
Immediately I yelled to Jessica to wake up and come out and called Serena to tell her to also get up to my room quick to watch this tomfoolery - good word.
Leanna was trying to jump on the boogie board, which was incredibly unsuccessful, so Christine - my other roomie - lended down her skim board.
Before I knew it Ana, my goalie on the women's soccer team, grabbed the board and dove head first into the ginormous puddle.

Now if you've never skim boarded before, an easy thing to do is fly backward the instant you jump on it... which concludes in a pretty sweet fall. In this case it was Leanna's first time trying it out, and you can only imagine the numerous creative wipeouts.
After about 10 minutes, handfuls of Hopesters were drawn to the scene, not only on the balconies but out on the streets.
Christine changed into shorts and hopped down to the puddle to show everyone up - she is a seasoned skim boarder, we were all impressed. Even a tennis player grabbed her board on the way back from practice to join in on the fun.
Pretty soon we had 6 girls and my RA, out on my balcony alone, spectating.
Only in California do you skimboard in a puddle in the middle of winter.
