its been a little over a one month vacation, but tonight i am back to making pizzas again. I didn't tell the 'rents - but when mom called I couldn't lie to her about where I was at... so now she knows. Sure... working another job is kind of unnecessary, but I figure I shouldn't be hitting mom and paps up for money ALL THE TIME annnd it would be nice to have a little dough here and there for the frivolous spending (we all know that I am good at that).
working at PJ's isn't too bad... I usually stear clear of the telephones and migrate toward the make-line where I put everybody on a NANO TIME OUT for the duration of my shift. about the 'nano time out': whenever Rigo is around and I put my headphones in he says it's like I'm putting him on time-out, thus the nickname.
my manager, Miguel, is totally cool about me using my Ipod - and my phone for that matter. I was talking to mom for a good while and the PJ phones starting ringing and as I was walking toward the front counter to pick one up Miguel says "No Nicole don't worry about it" and then he yells to the back "Mayra!! Michelle!! Come get the phones!!!" It's a pretty sweet deal, im not gonna lie (really Miguel notices that I'm one of the most productive employees, I never complain, I always do what I am told AND at the same time I don't even really need the job - so I feel like I'm doing the old man a favor).
pro and con chart (Rory Gilmore) for working at Papa John's again:
pros:
extra dough
brushing up on my espanol
listening to music
using my cell phone
free pizza! (could be a con too)
buff arms from slapping out dough
cons:
working the weekend nights nearly always
chapped hands from washing them constantly
smelling like onions, jalepenos, green peppers, pepperoni for days
paper cuts from folding boxes
back aches from leaning over the make line and standing too much
dealing with angry and starving customers
working the hours right through dinner time when I'm sick of eating pizza
sore arms from slapping out dough
I'm thinking the cons outweigh the pros.... but then again you've gotta ask: what would you do for a buck? ok i totally exaggerated about the cons - its really not thaaaaaat bad. but close.
