I started the master cleanse today. It's a 10 to 40-day liquid ( a.k.a. "lemonade diet") cleanse (I'm shooting for ten).

Each day:
Lemonade: 60 ounces of filtered water, 12 tablespoons of organic grade B maple syrup, 12 tablespoons of organic lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper powder (divide into 6 servings)
Morning/Evening Saltwater flush: 1 Liter of water, 2 teaspoons of rock sea salt
Evening: herbal laxative tea (senna leaf)
Also: Drink your body-weight in ounces of water

I didn't buy Peter Glickman's book. Instead, I read as much of it that Google Books permitted, and browsed testimonies on people's blogs.

Cooked my last dinner for 10 days. Steak, potatoes, and sautéed mushrooms – Ben&Jerry’s half baked for dessert.
Did not drink a cup of herbal laxative tea before I went to bed.

Lemonade 1 – doesn’t taste bad, but I probably will get sick of it. I’m using powdered Cayenne pepper (I didn’t even think to use liquid form).

Saltwater flush (2 Tbsp OOPS! In 6 oz of water)
Smooth move herbal laxative senna leaf combo tea

Just watched this video on youtube and realized that for the SWF I was supposed to use 2 teaspoons of salt and not 2 tablespoons. Doh!! Today I used 3 tablespoons which was probably why I was dying this morning. Well now I should be able to do the flush easily tomorrow.

Feel like I’m going to throw up. Loryssa said that I irritated my GI tract. Just watched video that said to use 2 teaspoons NOT 2 tablespoons of sea salt.

One thing I noticed is how much our lives revolve around food and how so much eating stems from boredom than actually need. Once you stop eating you realize how much time is spent thinking and planning about what you’re going to eat.

Tomorrow I will be at the Wheaton office, so I will need to get up early to do the SWF (wouldn't want to have to make a trip to the toilet in Andy's car on the way there).
I should probably go to Barnes&Noble and quick-read the Master Cleanse book. I read on Roy's blog today that the first day off the cleanse you can only drink fresh squeezed orange juice. I also learned that I haven't been mixing enough water with the sea salt.
I did get bored today. I almost finished reading Bringing Down the House, Ben Mezrich on the MIT card-counters. 21 the movie comes out Friday. It's based on the book, but looks extra lame, although the book's nonfiction account is very interesting.
My boredom can be channeled effectively - laundry, clean room, wash car, detail garage, lsu algebra/poetry/music assignments, digest article writing, read, take long showers...

Be careful. Are you doing this for the detox or weight lost aspect of the diet?
The weight loss aspect of the Master Cleanse during the MC is a joke. I ultimately want to do the raw food diet mixed with a non-soccer cardio and lifting regiment - lose a little weight, but mostly replace fat with lean muscle mass.
The Master Cleanse, for me, is solely for the detox and is a recommended starter to a raw food diet.
The Master Cleanser new book title "lose weight" is misleading, because you don't actually lose that much weight. I predict that I might lose 5 lbs - not worth fasting for 10 days.
The 5 lbs includes a lot of toxic waste that has been accumulating in my body for 20 years. Also, when doing the Master Cleanse I should retain lean muscle mass.
Thanks for being concerned!
