collegiate soccer career finished

Today I cleaned out my locker. I can't say that I will be hanging up my cleats.

After the 2005 season at Hope International University in Southern California, Coach Kelly Bergman followed her husband to Trinity International University North of Chicago and four players left the team. It was a bitter time. Three followed her to TIU, and one randomly went to Trinity Christian College South of Chicago. This year TCC and HIU will both be at the NCCAA Championship Tournament in Florida. TIU will not. I suppose it would be a reunion one only reads about in books.

We beat Judson University 4-2 in the NCCAA North Region semifinal Friday. We went up 2-0 early, but by the end of the first half Judson equalized with two lame goals. We dominated the game and finished two more in the second half.

BUT we lost in the Championship game to Olivet Nazarene University. We dominated the entire game, but only scored one in the first half. Olivet equalized in the second half off a bogus free kick. The game endured two scoreless overtime halves and we lost in Penalty Kicks. I shot second for TIU -- and I missed mine. It was lousy.

We played impressively, though, both games. I made First-team all region -- but I'd give it up for a W Saturday hands down. So I'm offically done. No more games. No Florida.

My Randomness

1109 – “Every kiss begins with Kay.” The pun registered today, finally, after years of Kay Jewelers advertisements. This morning while watching Sportscenter, a Kay Jewelers commercial aired: ‘Twas the night before Christmas and mom didn’t know that Dad stood behind her with a box and a bow.” The revised poem was read aloud by the son, and the box with a bow held a pair of diamond earrings. Mom kisses Dad to the pun of a jingle.

1108 Taylor Twellman finished an exceptional bicycle kick (watch it), questionable high-kick against the Chicago Fire in the Eastern Conference Championship Thursday. The goal was enough for the New England Revolution to move onto the MLS cup final Sunday, Nov 18 to play the Houston Dynamo.

Legally Blonde the musical was "Oh my God, Oh my God you guys" really good -- considering that its target audience was largely teenage female MTV-types. I will continue to be impressed with dancers who can sing and act. Since I cannot, I will just be satisfied with being one of among an audience. The musical is probably more enjoyable if you've already seen the movie. We have it on our DVR at the BG house.
