...bury our sorrow in tubs of ice cream

I invited the team over Friday night to hang out via Facebook's Event application. Before everyone showed up, Serena and I made breakfast for dinner -- pancakes, eggs and sausage -- and we bought 4 gallons of Edy's (Dreyer's in Washington) ice cream -- Mint Chocolate Chip, Cookie Dough, Cookies and Cream AND Peppermint.

We wanted to watch the ultimate chic flic, but after viewing the trailer for Gracie, a newer soccer film where a girl competes in the tryout for the boy's high school team, we sunk to the cliche and ordered it through Comcast On Demand. It was a downer -- beginning with a missed penalty kick. So we made up with putting on Legally Blonde the Musical -- so great.

The email I sent them via Facebook "events" was a mockery of Coach Gilliam's emails. He overuses slashies, quotations, bold faces, underlines and italics when he uses written communication. This letter is highly plagiarized.

Ladies/Teammates,

Good morning... I hope you are doing well/amazing.

I want to thank/praise each and every one of you for a great season... I hope that you enjoyed yourself and at the same time, learned a lot about the game/sport of soccer and even more about life.

I have a VERY IMPORTANT and URGENT request... We are fortunate/lucky to have teammates that live off-campus/not on campus this year and they desire/want to have us over again for an end-of-the-year 'get-together.'

Not only do I think this is another tremendous/astounding opportunity for us to have a community getogether and just enjoy one another's company (it gets a lot harder with the seniors not as "involved' during second semester), BUT ALSO/in addition we can indulge ourselves/bury our sorrow in tubs of ice cream.

I would desire ALL PLAYERS (seniors included) to be at this meeting. It is MANDATORY/an obligation, and you should want to come to show your COMMITMENT to the program.

Lastly, no drugs/alcohol/tobacco will be permitted. Please notice that the meeting ends at 11:15, so I will try not to keep you past curfew.

Oh... and please don't bring your bags.

Have a great day/week!

Love You!

In His Service,

Nicole/Coley

You are adorable, (remember the meaning of the word as you used it in High School) but I love you!

=)

It was my personal euphemism for obnoxious, annoying, or uncouth.

...ok maybe the email was a little obnoxious... =)
