we had no classes monday so HIU was like a ghost town all weekend. yesterday I had nothing to do but softball practice from 3-7pm, so I nearly finished the entire 10th season of Friends. such a great show - its up there with the all time greatest: The Simpsons - brilliant, Seinfield - a close second, and 90210 - trailing a little further behind (since I'm only 20, these shows are the ones I will look back on and remember from my teen-hood). when I was younger my mom forbade me to watch Friends and she STILL doesn't like the show. Give it a chance mom, you'll love it! It is remarkably reminiscant of petty conflicts that arise in sitcoms like Seinfield - you love that show - but instead they are a little younger and a little better to look at (and the main guy doesn't laugh at his own jokes). For Friends it's hard to choose a favorite because each character is hooolarious and each has their peculiar flaw - but I've elminated it down to Chandler Bing and Febe Buffay. I feel like I'm cheating on the Gilmore Girls!! - it's ok, though, I have a date with them tonight at 8pm in the Darling tv room.
softball is up and running again after we had the weekend off to catch up on work and heal our bodies. im back to good ol' short stop and the finger is coming along pretty well. we go to San Diego this Saturday for a doubleheader against Point Loma Nazerene - big time - it should definitely be a full day event. what's sweet about playing at PLNU is that their softball field overlooks the ocean - huge distraction for the outfielders... you bet!! -and i do know this from experience (its already hard enough to pay attention to the game). I bet ADD athletes aren't very successful at softball or baseball - there could always be the special few.
after softball practice i played some coed pick-up bball games in the gym until midnight. it was a blast - i haven't touched a basketball since the summer.... yeah, i was a little rusty, and the finger didn't help out too much... but I still managed. I didn't have it wrapped, so it became nearly as fat as it had been just days after the dislocation. a few advils really didn't do the trick, but I finally sneaked a wink and had 5 bad hours of sleep before 6am soccer practice this morning - its terribly cold in the mornings lately. and in the evenings. and in the afternoons. it's just cold.
