CLIF goes home

Clif and I met at a soccer tournament in Iowa. He would hang out around my soccer locker next to my Clif bars. My locker partner Miesh and I would kiss Clif for good luck before road trips to soccer matches.

After graduation I packed up everything to my name in my Honda Civic. Clif didn't really help. He just hung out in my room the whole time and didn't say a word. I think he was bummed I was leaving. But then he silently made his way to the car and made it pretty clear that he wanted to come home with mom and I.

We took Clif on random stops and to three National Parks... but he would never look up at anything. The only object of his attention was that damn soccer ball.

"Dribble with your head up!" I told Clif. But he never would take his eyes off the ball.

We made sure to take pictures of Clif across the nation. In case he ever looks up from that ball, he can see where he has been and what he has missed.

Dribbling the driveway at the Buffalo Grove house for the last time. Clif was always an over-achiever.

Returning the Comcast equipment = No more Fox Soccer Network.

Playing around on the lawn of the Trinity Mansion = Clif's favorite thing to do.

Picking up the TREK at Deerfield Cyclery. Clif isn't a fan of biking, unless he can take his ball along. He didn't help with mounting the bike either.

Pit stop at Wisconsin Dells. Culver's frozen custard - a must! But Clif didn't want any.

Kicking it around at Badlands Nat'l Park. He just never stops.

Taking on the presidents at Mt Rushmore. Don't ask Clif who the president's are - but he can tell you each story behind each scuff or mark on his soccer ball.

"I'm as big as the bighorn mountains," thought Clif, "At least, that's what I heard Dani say." Scenic route 16 to Yellowstone.

"We play in all weather. Rain or snow. And on any surface. Try me."

Clif had his own queen-size bed while Mom and I shared one.

"I'm on top of the world! Watch me dribble the railing."
Dani: "Get down from there before a Ranger yells at you!"

Mammoth Springs.

Cliff nutmegged the buffalo and he went solemnly on his way.

Cliff didn't care to see Old Faithful and turned his back.
"It's taking too long. I could have dribbled the park by now. Twice."

She's faithful. But Cliff wouldn't know.

Clif met a new friend on the dashboard.

Home a'las! Clif thinks he's living in my room, but I showed him to his new spot in the garage.

Coley...this was an awesome post. I loved it. I feel like I watched a slick commercial. Can you take Clif on an adventure around Seattle so I can see all the cool places I will go to when I go visit you?

I loved those pictures, they're very ingenious! Did you take them? :)

I did indeed. Clif was somewhat of a substitute for a lawn gnome.

Abby... Clif will go to Seattle soonish.
