fired? i quit!

yep, today my manager cut me loose. it all started with a couple messages from the boss-man... after I got the ax i went to the dodgers game =) - hey I've got a free friday night for a change... I might as well go do something. (keep in mind that I put my two weeks in about a month ago ANNNND I have done AJ so many favors that he probably couldn't count them on one hand).
1: Hey Nicole, it's AJ. Ron (driver) told me that you were done and you weren't coming back... call me please.
I call him back to let him know that this isn't true, but that I would let him know myself. I showed up for my shifts the rest of the weekend.
2: Hey Nicole it's AJ, the crew said they were busy and could have used you Sunday night.
I was never called by anyone that night to see if I could possibly come in. They wouldn't have gotten a hold of me because during softball games I am not aloud to use my phone at all - from the time we arrive until the time we leave.
3: Hey Nicole it's AJ again, just calling to check-in with you and let you know your schedule for this weekend, I have you for Friday morning at 8, so see you then.

Ok, what's funny about the second message is that I was not scheduled to work Sunday night, a low-volume night, because I had a softball doubleheader all during the evening. Management knew about this for over 2 weeks.

I got the 2nd and 3rd messages tuesday after our doublheader at Vanguard that was cut short in the first inning of the second game due to the rain. The game was rescheduled for Friday afternoon which meant I was going to be unable to work Friday morning at 8 - figures, ha. So I called AJ wednesday morning and left him a message letting him know that I was unable to make it and that I could come in later Saturday and anytime Sunday - which is more than I should be offering.

I didn't get a call back until Friday morning.
Message 4: Hey Nicole I just got your message this morning about you not being able to come in.... wow.... you put me in a really tight spot. Come in if you can at all.
After the Vanguard game I read this Text Message from AJ 5: Tim (supervisor) came in this morning and it was not good. Your check is here, turn in your shirt and hat if you want it.

HA!- way to overlook the past couple weeks of me working extra hours for ya - big chump. When I told Mom and Jessica the news they were the only ones who were excited for me (they knew how much I wanted to quit).

I told Andy about getting fired and entertained the idea of him bringing in my shirt for me and getting my check when he went into work for friday night (Andy is one of my drivers). Buuuut then I thought about it further and decided that I wanted to face AJ myself when I was to get my paycheck. When Andy got to work AJ started harping on him about asking for Sunday off the week before and then asking for a Saturday off two weeks before. Andy told him that he didn't need the stress and HE QUIT ON THE SPOT. I had just gotten back from my Vanguard game THAT WE WON BY THE WAY and Andy comes into my room and was like "I just quit we're going to the Dodgers/Anaheim exhibition game at Dodgers stadium you have 15 minutes to get ready."

Andy, Joey and I left Fullerton for Los Angeles 15 minutes later and when we were on the road they told me that we didn't have tickets and that we were going to find a scalper when we got there. Usually I wouldn't be too excited about this kind of news, but for some reason I was totally up for it. We got $50 tickets for 25 each SWEET and they were just a handful of rows behind home plate SWEET. The game was rained out in 7 and a half innings and they ended it in a tie. Andy and Joey are big Dodger fans so I had fun rooting for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (their home field is like 5 minutes away, while the Dodgers stadium is 45 to an hour).

how cute!?! andy's picture made it on the ticket!

when i went to turn in my shirt and hat to pick my check up, AJ tried to persuade me to come back and work and he would even let me be a driver!! so i actually gave the idea a few seconds of consideration and said NO THANKS! BYEEEE! He even asked me to say goodbye before I leave CA in May. =)... and he jokingly said that I suck for leaving, even with this not-so-charming chuckle that made his entire body roll. =(... we all know he wasn't joking.
