Tonight was Decatur's Senior Prom and so I was urged to look through a stack of pics taken from last year. This picture was taken of me and Nicky on prom day last year when I was a senior at Decatur. It was during that awful time before dinner and before the dance that you and all the couples in your prom party go to one friends house and all the parents take pictures and tell each other how beautiful/handsome their son/daughter is. Who started this tradition?? It was the event of the night that I dreaded of each big dance - it's awkward enough to have pictures taken of yourself, but in front of a bunch of digital-camera-picture-hungry parents... and just keeping your fake smile from shaking is a problem all on its own.
